Have you heard the buzz?

Gardening season is nearly upon us. I’ve always wanted a garden but thought it sounded like too much work. Not just maintaining but figuring out what to plant and how much, how much water, how much sun, when to harvest, and what bugs come with the whole dreamscape. Who has that kind of time anyway??

I was about to throw my garden idea in the bag…again…until I saw that Tomboy Tools is coming out with gardening tools in pink. It’s not that I actually think that pink gardening tools will somehow bring forth answers to all of my questions…but I did visualize myself happily working away on my little garden with my pink garden tools…my quality pink garden tools…and suddenly I don’t feel so overwhelmed about the idea. Hmmm. The color pink does sort of lighten things up doesn’t it?

How cute is this?? The Pink Garden Bucket will be available to purchase by the end of April!! It’s only $44.95 and 10% of sales go to the Susan G. Komen foundation for The Cure. Thanks Tomboy Tools!!

Room Transformation Time!

It’s a fresh, new year and the perfect time to stop the wheel and take a look at your home and assess what’s working and not working inside your space. Look around and take note of all the areas in your home that you truly enjoy. Ask yourself why these areas work for you and take note…ie., BATHROOM: it’s organized, it’s an expression of who I am, it’s calming, etc. The idea is to bring some of these aspects into all of the rooms in your home.

Next, take out a MUCH bigger sheet of paper and using three columns, jot down every area of your house that is NOT working for you, note the specifics of what’s not working about the space and then write out IN PRESENT TENSE your desired result for each space.

EXAMPLE
AREA      NOT WORKING      DESIRED RESULT

KITCHEN
  • The paint color makes my eyes bleed.
  • The cupboards are not organized.
  • Need to switch the hinges on the refrigerator door so it opens to the LEFT.
  • Etc.
  • I feel inspired and creative in my kitchen.
  • The cupboards are organized and shelves are labeled enabling easy and efficient cooking and shopping list making.
  • Every inch of the kitchen looks complete and is full expression of me and my family.
  • Etc.

BEDROOM
  • Paint color is un-inspiring.
  • Inadequate storage.
  • Etc.
  • I immediately feel at peace in my bedroom.
  • It looks clean and fresh and clutter-free.
  • Etc.

Pick a room or space to work on first. Ground yourself in your DESIRED RESULT for that area and then get to work. If painting has to be put on hold until your next paycheck…or next tax return…or next found buried treasure, so be it. Don’t let that little set-back stop your being in action. Do everything else necessary to create a space that works and in alignment with what you WANT from that room. Often you’ll find that a total transformation will occur in an area just by tackling a few details on your list. And that paint color you once despised may suddenly have new life.

Let us know about your new space creations!
